For the treatment of lymphedema and post surgical swelling.
Different types of lymphatic massage are available in the massage industry, and it is important to know which type you are looking for based on your goals. RMCM therapists practice manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) using the Vodder technique. This type of lymphatic massage is very light and rhythmic, using a gentle compressive therapy. This is best for post-surgical clients, clients with lymphedema, at risk for lymphedema or those undergoing cancer treatment. While many clients seek MLD specifically for the treatment of post-surgical swelling or lymphedema, others will also benefit from this therapy. Aiding a healthy lymphatic system through MLD helps the body defend against disease, and calm the inflammatory responses associated with autoimmune conditions and chronic stress.
Our MLD certified therapists are trained in techniques developed by Dr. Emil Vodder, PhD, MT. The Vodder technique is considered the gold standard in Manual Lymph Drainage.
Things to know before you schedule…
- Please let us know if you use compression bandaging and may need extra time before and/or after your session.
- If you suspect you may have lymphedema, but have not been diagnosed, we ask that you be evaluated by your doctor prior to scheduling.
- Always discuss any new therapies with your medical care provider.
- Some medical conditions may make MLD unsafe for you. Please be thorough in describing your health history with your therapist and understand they may recommend a different therapy for you if necessary.
What Our MLD Clients Say
